Ready get set go…Spring Cleaning! Yes it’s that time of year again. We get in the mood to clean our homes top to bottom.
Here are some ideas to lessen the anxiety of the chores:
Windows– the weather is warm this is the time when we really like to get our windows clean. It is an annual chore that we do to keep the house in good condition. For do-it yourself cleaning, my suggestion is to clean the windows using the following supplies: 20 ounces bucket of warm water, 2 ounces of vinegar and a few drops of dishwashing soap, squeegee and cotton towel or microfiber clot and/or old newspaper to dry. Use the microfiber clot or the cotton towel to wipe clean the window then use the squeegee to remove the cleaning solution. Wipe dry excess liquid using new dry towel or newspaper. Important DO NOT CLEAN YOUR WINDOWS ON SUNNY DAYS!
Now if you are going to hire a window cleaning company make sure that they carry a liability insurance as well as workers compensation insurance. They will be climbing in tall ladders to reach and clean the high windows. A legitimate company should not have a problem showing their proof of insurance. This will protect you in case of an accident fall. And since the windows are getting clean might as well get the high ceiling fans and light fixtures in the foyer clean as well, this is the best time to do this. The window cleaners will clean it for extra fees.
Dusting– the right way to dust! We all have done this. Wrong way, we hold the furniture polish and spray directly into the furniture. The right way, furniture polish spray into the cleaning cloth then wipe polish the furniture in the direction of the grain of the wood. Or if the intention is only to remove the dust, it is best to just use a damp microfiber cloth. The microfiber cloth will pick-up the dust without using furniture polish.
Hardwood, Tiles or Vinyl Floors-having pets that sheds is a pain. Trying to keep up with the hair ball in the floor is a challenge. Most of us keep on vacuuming hopping that the vacuum will suck all the hair. Wrong, the vacuum will only suck small amount of hair, the rest will be spread around. Unless, you have a powerful vacuum with a wand that will suck off the furs. I suggest before you pick-up the vacuum, use the broom, wrap a microfiber cloth to the broom, sweep the furs in the corner then use the vacuum wand to suck the hairballs.
Yes, it’s that time of year again. Let’s try to keep-up with the household chores starting now. A little bit of cleaning each day will help lessen the build-up. Happy cleaning everybody!
