Now that the holidays have come and gone, chances are your carpet is looking a bit…used. Don’t wait until your spring-cleaning to remove stains. Tackle the stains now and start your New Year off with  fresh carpet. Here is our favorite way to remove carpet stains  in a synch.

  1. Grab your favorite carpet-cleaning product or mix a splash of dishwashing liquid to a cup of warm water.
  2. Apply cleaner to a white cloth and gently dab the spot with the cloth. Work from the outer edges to the inner to prevent the stain from spreading.
  3. Turn the cloth often while adding more cleaner to it. Continue dabbing until the stain is gone.
  4. Rinse the area by dipping another cloth into clear water and dabbing the stain again until all traces of the cleaner are gone.
  5. Blot the wet spot with a clean dry cloth and fluff the carpet up.
  6. Stack a few paper towels on top of the west spot and cover with something heavy. Leave the towels sitting over night to absorb any leftover residue that is still in the carpet.
  7. Remove the heavy object in the morning and toss the paper towels. Let the spot continue to air dry, then fluff the carpet fibers.
  8. Admire your job well done: Your carpet is good as new!
