When it comes to cleaning, sometimes it is better to work smarter than harder. Thanks to a wonderful product called baking soda, we to are able to work smarter. Having cleaned houses for many years, I have found that baking soda has unlimited uses. I have compiled a list of my favorite ways to use baking soda when cleaning.
- Unclog drains: If you have a tough drain that needs unclogged pour a few cups of baking soda down the drain, followed by a few cups of boiling water. If the drain still remains clogged, add a cup of vinegar, followed by a few cups of boiling water.
- Carpet refresher: Does your carpet smell? Sprinkle baking soda over carpet and allow it to sit for 20 minutes. When the time is up, vacuum up all of the baking soda. Your carpet will be clean and smell nice too!
- Clean the toilet and tub: Use baking soda as safe and effective way to scrub your toilet and the tub.
- Pet Urine stains: Get rid of the pesky pet urine stains with a sprinkle of baking soda. Let the baking soda sit on the area for about 30 minutes and sweep or vacuum it away.
- Garbage refresher: Does your garbage can stink? Sprinkle baking soda on the bottom of the can and let sit overnight. Baking soda can sit in the can permanently under the trash bag and absorb odors right away.
- Add to laundry: Add a scoop of baking soda to your load of laundry to get the clothes extra clean. This is a great way to wash clothes for kids with sensitive skin too.
- Clean the fridge: Add a large handful of baking soda to a bucket of water for a great refrigerator cleaner. This cleaner is more effective than other cleaners, and is cheaper too!
- Rid water stains on hardwoods: Don’t worry about those water stains that soaked into the hardwoods. Sprinkle baking soda generously over the problem area and let it sit overnight. Sweep up the baking soda in the morning and see the stains vanished.
- Clean tea and coffee stains: Do you have tea pitchers or coffee cups with stains on them that won’t come up? Baking soda scrubbed into those stains will remove them right away.
- Oven cleaner: Sprinkle baking soda on the bottom of your oven and spray with water to slightly dampen. Let the mixture sit overnight and wipe clean in the morning.
